Retlif Testing Laboratories Awarded U.S. Navy Maritime Industrial Base Grant

Retlif Testing Laboratories has been awarded a grant through the U.S. Navy’s Maritime Industrial Base (MIB) program to enhance its acoustic noise testing capabilities. This investment will fund the acquisition of advanced acoustic noise test instrumentation, enabling the company to significantly improve testing efficiency and performance.

Upon installation of the new equipment, Retlif anticipates reducing testing time for customer equipment cabinets by approximately one-third. This advancement represents a meaningful improvement in operational efficiency while maintaining the rigorous standards required for naval applications.

Acoustic testing plays a critical role in the qualification of equipment intended for installation aboard U.S. Navy submarines, where strict control and mitigation of noise signatures are essential to operational effectiveness and stealth. Retlif’s upgraded capabilities will further support these mission-critical requirements.

The U.S. Navy’s Maritime Industrial Base program—formerly known as the Submarine Industrial Base—was established to strengthen the defense supply chain by investing in companies that can improve efficiency and accelerate production timelines. These enhancements may occur during manufacturing or, as demonstrated in Retlif’s case, through more efficient and effective testing processes for submarine components.

This grant underscores Retlif’s continued commitment to supporting the Navy’s mission and contributing to the advancement of the maritime industrial base.
