RETLIF Testing Laboratories announces the installation of a new AVEX SM-220 Shock Test Machine. The model SM-220 is the largest of the AVEX line of shock machines. The shock machine is designed to duplicate the shock pulses described in MIL-STD 202 and MIL-STD 810. Unlike the drop shock machines of the past, that used the force of gravity to introduce shock loads, this machine is pneumatically powered. The advantages of a pneumatically powered shock machine is that it can accommodate much larger test samples with no limitations on test sample height or width. This machine will handle test samples that weigh up to 400 pounds. The SM-220 produces a wide variety of pulse shapes including Half Sine, Sawtooth, and Square Wave. The SM-220 has a stroke of 21 inches and a terminal velocity up to 280 inches per second.
