The Month in Review
GOLF OUTINGS A HIT This summer RETLIF hosted two successful golf outings as a "Thank You" to our vendors and customers. Both outings were held at the challenging Hamlet Windwatch Golf Course in Hauppauge, NY. The turnout of 40 golfers, along with the sunny weather, allowed for a fun filled day. The afternoon events were followed by an evening reception. CONTINUED EXPANSION OF NY EMC FACILITIES Based on ever-increasing demand, further improvements have been incorporated into the NY EMC facilities. These improvements include the completion of one full semi-anechoic chamber and the partial treatment of a second room. The main chamber, which has also been equipped with a new 6 foot by 8 foot entrance door, has now been fully treated to be in compliance with all national and international, military and commercial test standards. Modifications and treatment of a second test chamber has also been completed so that it is MIL-STD-461D and RTCA/DO-160D compliant for both radiated emissions and immunity. While these improvements increase the technical abilities and competence of the facility, it is important to note that they will also have a positive impact in allowing for greater flexibility in project scheduling. NH CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN SOON Based on the recent town approval of the site plans, construction of a new auxiliary outer building will begin soon. The building will house enhanced storage facilities for customer samples and new commercial test rooms for the control of the outdoor test site and conducted emissions testing. This in turn will result in enhancements in the main building, including an expanded customer lounge area. Hopefully construction will begin before the difficult NH winter weather sets in. ESS LAB GETS NEW VIBRATION CONTROL SYSTEM In order to enhance its testing capabilities and testing times, the NY ESS laboratory recently purchased and installed a state-of-the-art Data Physics vibration controller. The controller has the ability to record up to six inputs simultaneously which eliminates the need for multiple runs to acquire test data at several points on a test article. This feature, coupled with the ability of 1600 lines of resolution, provides the customer with highly accurate test data in the most timely manner. Through the use of the new controller RETLIF can now also perform Shock Response Spectrum (SRS) testing which is increasingly becoming a required performance specification. SEE US AT THE SHOWS
