Engineering Services

The route to DHS compliance is often unclear and confusing. Retlif’s Engineering Services Division stands ready to help clarify and simplify your product’s required route to compliance. Through our Washington, D.C. regulatory office we can obtain current, up-to-date information on DHS compliance requirements, and can remediate the unique or specific issues that may impact your products.

The Safety Act
The significance of the SAFETY (Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technology) Act will continue to grow as manufacturers develop equipment needed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Once a product is approved, the SAFETY Act provides the limited liability protection that many manufacturers seek. Some of that liability protection includes: Exclusive jurisdiction in federal courts for any lawsuits; a complete bar on punitive damages; and liability limitations to an amount of insurance coverage (by DHS) for each technology (i.e. product).

Accordingly, Retlif has positioned itself as a resource for manufacturers to get products approved under this act. Working through our Washington, D.C. office, our Engineering Department and Testing Services can define, develop and provide a specialized compliance program designed for your product.
